With a Physiotherapy qualification earned in the mid-1980s, my professional journey has been diverse and rich. After a period in public practice, I ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing and managing my own private practices—East Coast Physiotherapy and Lansdowne Physiotherapy—for over 25 years.
Fascinated by the mind-body connection inherent in our movement, muscle tension, and overall strain, I pursued a three-year training in the Alexander Technique in Sydney, achieving qualification in 2000. In addition, I incorporated the McKenzie Technique, specializing in spinal pain. This approach emphasizes self-treatment and management through client education and specific exercises, proving effective in preventing, reducing, and self-managing future episodes for a significant number of clients.
Driven by evolving research and clinical evidence highlighting the crucial role of effective postural support, including core stability, in rehabilitation and optimizing movement patterns, I furthered my education. This involved courses in spinal core stability, Clinical Pilates, and pelvic floor and continence, seamlessly integrating with my Physiotherapy expertise and the holistic approach of the Alexander Technique.
Dedicated to staying at the forefront of current best practices, I consistently attend postgraduate courses throughout Australia. Over the course of my career:
This profession is not just my career; it is an integral part of who I am. I am committed to continuous learning and practice, both for my personal growth and the benefit of my clients. My ultimate goal is to assist clients in rediscovering the most comfortable and effortless movement tailored to their individual preferences and activities.
