At QLBOP, our dedication lies in delivering clinical care grounded in evidence-based practices. Our overarching goal is to empower patients to embrace healthier lifestyles and effectively manage their conditions while upholding an optimal quality of life. We achieve this objective by fostering a supportive environment that takes into account not only physical health but also emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Through a holistic approach to health management, we strive to address the comprehensive needs of our patients, ensuring their overall well-being is nurtured and sustained.
Our Cancer Rehabilitation program at QLBOP offers personalized support aimed at optimizing physical recovery during cancer treatment and facilitating a return to preoperative lifestyle. Through evidence-based practices, we provide education and exercise programs tailored to each patient’s needs, focusing on monitoring for any issues that may impact long-term physical recovery.
Key services include graduated exercises to improve movement and stimulate lymphatic transport, maintenance or restoration of physical capacity during and after cancer treatment, education on reducing the risk of Lymphoedema, and assessment of joint function and limb size to detect movement dysfunction or pain early on.
For patients dealing with Lymphoedema, our comprehensive care includes education, skincare, manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, garment prescription, and exercises to enhance lymphatic transport capacity. We also offer rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, aquatic physiotherapy, low level laser therapy, and self-management programs.
Exercise Prescription & Aquatic Physiotherapy play crucial roles in promoting overall wellbeing during and after cancer treatment. Studies show that exercise improves strength, cardiovascular fitness, immune function, mood, and self-esteem while reducing symptoms like nausea, fatigue, and pain.
Our facilities adhere to Australian Physiotherapy Aquatic Physiotherapy Standards, offering warm water sessions that enhance fitness, strength, balance, mobility, and general wellbeing. Supervised by our physiotherapists, sessions cater to individuals’ needs, regardless of swimming ability.
General exercise benefits include reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, Type II Diabetes, and some cancers, while promoting healthy bones, muscles, and joints, psychological wellbeing, and aiding in weight control.
In response to COVID-19, we offer secure video Telehealth consultations for garment, clinical, or exercise prescriptions, ensuring continuity of care while prioritizing safety.
